The job of the colon is to absorb water and one of the symptoms patient's of Adenocarcinoma report are very hard stools. Adenocarcinoma colon is most commonly found in places where high fat and low fiber diets are the norm such as North America, Europe and Australia. It is rare in younger people with the risk increasing as one grows older. The profile most at risk are women over the age of 50. High intake of red meat and obesity further increase the risk of adenocarcinoma colon.

If adenocarcinoma colon is detected at an early stage it can be easily treated only by surgery but if its in the advanced stage only slight over 50% of patients survive more than 5 years.

Adenocarcinoma is the type of lung cancer which is most likely to stay in one organ though at times it is known to spread to the brain. Compared to other forms of lung cancer it responds well to treatment. This type of lung cancer accounts for one third of all lung cancer cases. Another rare cancer, mesothelioma, is occasionally mis-diagnosed as adenocarcinoma of the lung.

Adenocarcinoma is a type of cancer that occurs in lining of certain organs such as the lungs, breasts and colon, infact it is the most common form of colon and lung cancer. The inside of such hollow organs are covered with layers of tissue, one of which is epithelium. When this tissue develops cancerous cells it is known as adenocarcinoma. In such a situation the cells multiply and grow without control into a lump commonly known as a tumor. They can spread to other body parts forming new tumors and destroying tissue around it in the process.
